Here in Eastern Tennessee, the summer is pure Americana, especially in our small town. Patriotic pride is evident on every corner. The sweet summer heat is intoxicating, and the mountain air is fresh. This time of year brings the sound of rushing water in our creeks and rivers, the abundance of fresh produce and homemade churned ice cream, farmer markets, fireworks, baby fawns, Nono's Blackberry Cobbler, and Palomas in the evening, porch swings with all the fireflies. Let's not forget to pull out our best boots for summer rodeo season. It's comfort, nostalgia, simplicity—and it's beautiful.
The truth is, inspiration is always happening all around us. I gather it constantly through my clients, my travels, the stories behind the homes we design, and the blessings experienced in everyday life. All these core memories should reflect in your home and lifestyle
This place, which we call home, holds so much meaning for our family. It's our happy place! Especially during July, due to all the birthday celebrations and family time. We make sure to make the most of July and August. This summer, I've found myself especially reflective. This morning, sitting at our mountain home in our historic barn, enjoying all my furry loved ones, coffee in hand. I sat watching and listening to the American flag rustle in the breeze. It's a stolen moment I relish.
I've learned it is essential to listen to a place. And to understand that style is so much more than a mood board—it's memory. I often say that we experience our home through all of our senses, and I love to lean into that. Our American pride and that rustling flag have inspired our spaces and kitchen table this summer. Make a statement by adding an iron indigo stripe pillow from Schumacher to this gorgeous dark red, navy blue tulip print on an ivory background.
Cache Pots $49.50 - $79- So you had me at blue and white, and then from Kravet, a company I've grown to love in design throughout many years. The real question, though, is whether you can ever have too many cachepots? I've collected these trinkets through the years for my African Violets, summer orchids, or my classical ferns.
